Mess Hall

"I know what I want, I just don't want to hurt people." I said quietly as we left and I locked up the Mess Hall behind us. "You know I can never say anything right, that's why I usually just stop talking altogether."

"You didn't say anything wrong Ethan. And people get hurt, that's just a part of life," I said as we walked slowly. "Are you gonna tell me what you want, or just keep that to yourself?"

"I guess i have gotten pretty good at keeping shit to myself." I said, putting my hands into my pockets as we walked. It didn't take long until we were standing outside of Elena's house "Well. Goodnight I guess."

I shook my head. "Goodnight Ethan. Thanks for walking me home," I said and opened the door to go in.

"Wait." I said and grabbed the door shutting it back for a moment. "I can't let you go inside yet."

I turned to look at him, confused. "Why not?"

I looked down at her and took her face in my hands, caressing her cheeks. She was so much smaller than me now, she looked fragile. I lowered my face down to hers and kissed her hard, pushing her lips open with my tongue so I could taste her thoroughly. I pulled her over to the side of the house away from the door and gently pushed her against the wall.

I was shocked but I didn't even hesitate. I wrapped my arms tight around his neck, parting my lips more, and let out an involuntary moan as our tongues slid against each other.

I picked her up so her legs were wrapped around my waist, she was practically weightless in my arms. She tasted so sweet, she always had.

I slid my hands up into his hair as his hands slid down to my hips. He deepened the kiss even more and I moaned again, my body trembling slightly.

The kiss we shared finally broke but I didn't let her go, I kept her in my arms. "Don't go home tonight." I whispered.

"I'm not going anywhere," I whispered.

That was all I needed as I carried her into the woods.

People were starting to leave but I was still setting with Dad, Darlene, and Carolina. Of course I had brought along some special juice but I wasn't drinking a ton of it. I did want to be able to walk later, it was mostly for Dad. He needed a drink after today. Him and Darlene both, actually. I smiled at Carolina "Are you having a good time?"

I smiled at him. "I am. This has been really fun. How about you?"

 
I saw Mason talking to a young woman. "Who is that? I've seen her around a little, but I haven't met her yet."
 

"Yeah, I'm having a good time. Good to see others enjoying themselves."

"Her name is Carolina, she came from the Capitol. She used to be married to Blake Kyle, remember him?"

"I haven't enjoyed myself so much in... a long time," I said and smiled at him. Spending time with him had been amazing, and he was wonderful with Logan.



"Oh wow. Seriously? What is she doing down here? I haven't talked to a lot of people lately, I feel really out of the loop."

"The same reason Preston and Katy came. Blake sent her out here with Logan to keep him from being taken away. I gave Mason the job of helping her out because she had no experience."


"Me either." Logan was conked out in my lap snoring. "I'll help you get him home whenever you're ready."

I nodded slowly. "Have they been spending a lot of time together?"



"I'm ready whenever. It's been a long day."

"He's been teaching her how to hunt and set traps...all of that. Just doing what I told him to do. Why?"


"Alright, I'll take you two home." I picked Logan up in my arms and stood up "After you." I smiled.

"Have you seen the way he's been looking at her all evening?" I asked and smiled a little, not sure how I felt about that.



I smiled at him. "Thank you," I said and got up.

"No...should I have been watching?"


I walked behind her with Logan as we left the Mess Hall together. 

I shook my head a little. "Well he thinks she's good looking at the very least."

"Was he checking her out?"

"He barely took her eyes off her. And it wasn't friendly looks, if you know what I mean."
