I smiled a little. "Well thank you. I appreciate it. I don't want you to feel like you have to do everything around here though."

"I don't feel that way. I know you aren't trying to turn me into an old maid so no worries, okay?"

I smiled a little again. "Okay. I'll try not to worry so much. Hard not to though."

"You were always a worry wart like that."

"Could you ever really blame me?"

"Not anymore. Not after everything I know now."

"I know what you mean. I wish I'd known then what I know now."

Carter

"We just have to move forward now. It was hard but I figured it out a long time ago."
Brooke

"I don't know if... I know how to do that though."

"You will with time. Jack, Brett, and the others helped me a lot."

"That's good, I'm glad. Do you like it out here?"

"It took some getting use to but after they taught me a few things it got better. I wasn't completely ignorant of survival skills though since I started training at a young age."

"That's good. At least you had that. How long were you wandering in the woods?"

"A few weeks but that's better than being dead. Whoever had me...he didn't want that so he let me go. I'm not sure who it was, someone working for your Dad."

"Damn I'm sorry. I'm really glad he let you go. Who knows what would've happened if he hadn't."

If I ever laid eyes on Kent Ackerman again he would be a dead man. No question about that. He'd pay for what he did eventually. To me and my parents. "Well, here I am. Alive and kicking, making you breakfast." I smiled trying to lighten the mood.

I smiled. "And very well I might add, if the smells are anything to go on."

"Hopefully it tastes the way it smells. I think if I mash some of it up well enough Daphne can eat it."

"Can she eat grown up food already?" I asked, feeling like an idiot.

"It won't hurt her, milk won't keep them full very long after they start getting a little bigger. I think she can handle a few bites."

I nodded. "Okay. Yeah, let's try it and see how it goes."

"If it seems like it doesn't agree with her, we'll wait longer."

I nodded again. "Alight. I'm... sorry, I just don't know anything about... raising babies. I feel pretty helpless."

"That's why you asked me to come here so don't feel bad about it. You'll learn."

"I hope I can. I want to... I want to do right by her."
