Raine

"We'll leave you two alone and call it a night, Selma. I'll be in the next room, call my name if you need anything."

"Thank you," I whispered. 

"What should I do for now?" I asked.

"Could you please go tell Quin... tell him what's going on?" I whispered. "Then come back? I... I need you here." 

"Sure, I'll do that for you. I'll be back soon." I kissed the top of her head and left.

I turned my head and looked at Gabe who was standing in the doorway still. "Thank you," I whispered, feeling a tear slip down my face that I wasn't able to hold back.

"You're welcome. I'll be around if you need anything." I told her left the room.

We got over there and went slowly inside. "Where's Raine? Somebody want to tell me what happened?"

I met Quin and Aurora at the door and told them everything that had happened. "When I got here, Izzy and Gabe had already taken care of her. Your mother and Parker in the room with her now."


"Parker? Where's Brett?" I asked.


"I'm not sure, exactly."

"Some boyfriend, taking off at a time like this." I shook my head. "I'm going in there," I said and headed to the bedroom.

"I wouldn't....exactly say that."

I stopped and looked at her. "Wouldn't exactly say what?" 

"You should ask your mother about it. It's not my place."

"I would if I knew what you were talking about. Why can't you just tell me?" 

"Because it's your Mother's business, not mine." I told him as Gabe, Izzy, and Ryan came through the front door, they had finally went and taken showers to clean the blood off of them and changed their clothes.

I held back from rolling my eyes. "Well I'll be sure to ask her then," I said then went in the room. I didn't say anything as I looked at the bandages completely covering her arms. 

I looked at Quin and then Selma "I'm going to give you two some time with her." I told her as I stood and headed for the door.

"Why are you here? Where's Brett?" 



"Brett's... not gonna be around much anymore. Because we're not together anymore."

"Your Mom and I are going to work things out, Quin."

"Since when." 



"Just since the wedding." 



"And you were gonna fucking tell me when? Never?" 



"Stop it Quin, this is not the time." 



"Obviously..." I shook my head. "Never mind. I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you, he's just gonna walk out again. That's what he's good at isn't it. Maybe he'll do everyone a favor and not show back up this time." 



"Quin," I said sternly. "Stop it. Right now. Or find somewhere else to be. I am not going to get a lecture from you, and I will not have snide and rude comments. Not ever, and especially not right now." 

"Should you really be lecturing your Mother right now when you haven't even told Aurora about me, yet? As a matter of fact, you've kept a few little secrets lately. Don't lecture someone if you can't practice what you preach, Son."

"First off, don't ever call me son. And second, don't act like you know shit about me. You have no idea what's going on with me, and what I talk to my wife about, is none of your business. Now... please step out so I can be with my sister." 



"Quin. Newsflash. Your sister tried to kill herself tonight. You arguing with your dad is the last thing anyone fucking needs right now. So knock. It. Off." 

"I know more then what you'd like me to. But, whether you like it or not you are my Son. Your attitude, your appearance...everything. You're a Simmons it's time get over it and face that fact." I told him and left the room because Selma was right. Raine didn't need it but neither did she.

I shook my head. "In sperm only. The only father figure that's ever gave a shit about me is Charles." 



"That is not fucking true Quin. And you know it. Even if you won't admit it." I kissed Raine's head and slowly laid her down and tucked her in. "Get over your attitude. Before I fucking make you. I love you more than anything and I hate fighting with you. But whether you like it or not, Parker and I are going to try to make things work. And he's not going anywhere. It's time for you to realize that and accept it. You can't be angry for the rest of your life over things you can't change," I said and left the room before he could say anything back.

Wow. That conversation wasn't really kept on the down low. "You're my father in law?" I asked Parker, crossing my arms.


I let out a deep breath. "Yeah, it seems that way."


"Well, I don't know the whole story yet but...I like you. Thank you for the help this morning." I told him and went into Raine's room. She was sleeping so I wasn't going to be loud. "So, I'm actually Aurora Simmons?" I asked Quin.
