Carlisle and Sheridan Campbell

I laughed. "Alright I won't. Oh, he's finally getting hitched with Adalee. Speaking of, his boy Jay just got engaged too."

"God damn, ya'll been getting busy."

I chuckled. "You could say that. I'll let you get to it though. Good luck with Selma."

"Thanks, I'll be by to check on Winter in the morning." I said and waved as we went our separate ways.
"Hmmm. Which door to choose?" I asked myself and went for the one that had some candlelight shining through underneath the door and knocked.

I had kept my distance but I made sure the girl had gotten home safely. I made my way back to camp and I ran into Jamie. I knew her parents had come and I didn't blame them really, he told me Carlisle probably needed some slight medical attention so I picked up Gabriella and headed home. I walked in the door and there he sat, covered in blood. "You just wouldn't listen would you?"

"Thank you for your concern. No need to ask, I'll live," I mumbled, not looking at her.

"It's hard to be concerned since I'm so damned angry." I walked into our room and put Gabriella in her cradle. She didn't even wake up in the slightest so I went back to what I had gathered earlier to clean Diego up "I'll clean you up....bury my son...then I think I should stay with my sister for a bit."

"I can clean myself up. You're not burying him without me. And why the hell would you feel the need to stay with your sister?"

I shoved the cloth at him "Here then! Knock yourself out!" I snapped, raising my voice. "I'm going to stay with Faye because I can't stand all of this stress I'm under right now."

"You think you're the only one under stress? You think you're the only one fucking hurting right now? Fine, you want to stay with your sister so damn bad, just go. Just get the fuck out of here."

"I'm not leaving until Diego is properly buried so shove it." I gave him a dirty look as I moved away from him and went back to cleaning up my son.

I tried to push myself up but every time I tried I got a stabbing pain in my ribs. I knew at least a couple of them were broken. I grabbed at the cloth and wet it in the bowl of water she'd brought over, angrily washing away the blood on me.

I ignored him and went back to cleaning Diego up, it was taking a bit but he was starting to look like himself again. I looked at the wound that had killed him and decided I should atleast stitch it up or something.

I finished and forced myself up. I got a needle and thread and slowly made my way over to her, sitting down on the floor, and handed them to her without a word.

"Thank you." I said and started to stitch his throat, wondering who exactly had done this and why.

Neither of us said anything for awhile, just sitting in silence while she stitched up our son. "I'm sorry," I said quietly, when I finally found my voice.

"I know you're upset...I am too. But you can't take it out on everyone else, Carlisle." I said softly.

"I... I know. I just... I couldn't help it," I whispered and felt a tear fall down my face.

I reached over and wiped his face "You should let me check you. I know you're hurt."

"Finish Diego first," I whispered.

"I'm almost done....this is obviously a knife wound." I whispered. "Who do you think did it?"

I shook my head. "I don't know. I don't even know where to start. I don't know who all was there."

I nodded and finished stitching him. Besides his clothes, he was cleaned up. I got up and took a spare and clean blanket from the linen closet and covered him up with it.

"We should get him buried," I said quietly.

I nodded "Yes...let's go." I said, moving to one end of the homemade stretcher while Carlisle moved to the other. We lifted and carried him outside to our burial location.
