Robert Coleman

I had just finished cleaning his office and was about to leave when Robert opened the door. It was awkward for a moment, we just stared at one another. "Um...are we going to talk about it?"



I shrugged a little. "I don't know. Is talking what you really want to do?" I asked as I shut the door behind me.

"Yes." I said, getting nervous as she closed the door but not because I was afraid. "I shouldn't have done what I did. I'm sorry."

"Don't be sorry. We both wanted it." I turned to look at her. "And more. I know I did at least."

"You did?" I asked him and then shook my head. "Regardless, we can't do that. You're married and I like Lydia. I'm seeing Molly today so I can....resign."



"Don't resign. My marriage to Lydia is a farce. Anyone with half a brain could see that. I think of her like a sister, extremely weird as that is to say. Seriously though, she'd carry no ill will towards either of us if something happened."

"I know that it's a farce but still..." I let my words hang for a moment "There things about me that you don't know or understand."

"I could say the same about myself, but what's your point?"

"I didn't come to the Capitol to give myself a better life. I came here because I was asked to."

"I came here because I was ordered to. Who asked you to come?"

"I can't tell you. I was sent here to basically...spy on all of you. So we could...take our home back. They know a lot. Over the last few years I've given them a lot of information." I told him, growing more and more nervous.

"I see. I don't think I need to ask who you work for. Why are you telling me this?"

"Because I've grown to care about all of you and I can't do the things I'm asked to do anymore. You aren't bad people."

"I see," I said again. "In my experience, when you're in as deep as I am, and as deep as it seems you are, you can't simply just quit. How do you expect to stop working for them?"

"I don't know but I plan on trying. I'm sorry, Robert. I have to go." I said and started towards the door.

"Why? Why do you have to go?"

"I can't stop what I'm doing and stay here at the same time. Can you imagine what Tywin would do if he found out that I've been betraying everyone all this time? If I upset the wrong person they could easily let him know."

"Can you imagine what Tywin would do if he found out a lot of things that are going on around here? For a so-called leader, he is incredibly unaware of how things are really done. And I, for one, am not going to be the one to let him know the truth. So I'll ask you again. Why do you have to go?"

"Why should I stay?"

"Because I want you to," I said, moving closer to her.



"It's not a good idea."

"So what. I'm really... really tired of playing by the rules. Doing all the right things. I want to do something that I want for once. I want you."




"I want that too but it can't happen. It would make everything more complicated."

"It's hard to imagine things getting anymore complicated than they already are. Besides Tywin murdering me if he found out. I still want you though."



"He'd really do that?" I asked "That's why it can't happen."



"That's why it should."

"No. I can't risk that."

"I'm willing to. And I have more to lose than you do. So why aren't you willing?"
 

"If someone found out I wouldn't want anything to happen to you. So, you're wrong. I do have a lot to use."




I didn't say anything for a minute. "I still want you Ivy. Every bit of you. I'm not going to stop wanting you either."

"Robert, please. Please don't make this harder than it already is."

"I'm not trying to make this any harder. I'm just telling you the truth."
