Trent & Elena

"Long as you and the kiddo are okay." i said about her and her sister. "I am responsible for both of you. Well, you at least. Looks like Heath takes care of lil bit now."

"Yeah.. I need to start getting up out of bed more. I need to keep an eye on her."

"You need to get out of bed and move more because its good for you and the baby. Alicia is fine. Shes not a baby anymore there mother hen." i teased.

"No she's not, but she's only 16. I'm supposed to be taking care of her." I sighed. "I'm afraid she feels like I don't care. I'm just... I'm so tired all the time."

"Shes 16, going on 36. She is fine and she nderstands. You need to get up and out for your own health and this babys. Soon as the snow is done, we are doing just that."

"I have wanted to look around more. Maybe that'll be my incentive," I said and smiled a little.

I went to Elena's and knocked on the door.

Trent was making food so I eased up off the couch and answered. "Ethan, hi. What are you doing here?" I asked, smiling at him.

"We need to talk, can I come in?"

"Of course." He came in and I sat back down, my hand on my bump. "Is everything alright? You look upset."

"I have some...upsetting news." I said, watching her hand "Aurora was at the rives this morning and found a few things. They were bloody shirts...Asher's and Quin's."

My blood seemed to go cold and I couldn't speak for a minute. "What... what are you saying Ethan?"

"There were gashes cut into the shirt like he'd been stabbed...we think he's gone Elena. It's been a long time now."

I felt like I couldn't breathe. "No... that... that can't be right... This is... this is Asher we're talking about... Please tell me this isn't true," I whispered, my tears barely held at bay. I tightened my hold on my stomach and looked up as Trent came in the living room.

"What's going on?" I asked Ethan as I walked in and went to Elena "Are you alright?"

I told Trent the same news I'd told Elena "I wanted you to hear it from me, rather than someone else."

"Thank you... for... for telling me," I choked out softly.

"I'm really sorry, Elena."

I nodded and felt tears sliding down my cheeks. "I'm sorry too," I whispered. "He was... such a good friend... and the father of my child but... he was your brother. I'm so sorry Ethan."

"I just wish...I wish I had something more meaningful to say right now." I told her "It's like I'm blank or something."

"What is there to say? He's... he's g-" I covered my mouth, unable to even say it. "Oh god how could this happen," I whispered.

"I don't know. I never expected it to...I don't think any of us really did. Did we? I always expected him to come home no matter what." I sighed "I better get back to Mason and Ezra."

I nodded. "Go be with your family. Please... tell them how... how sorry I am," I whispered. "Are you... having a funeral?"

"Yeah, I'm gonna talk to Jack about it later and I'll let you know." I said and hugged her "We love you, I'll let you know something as soon as I talk to Jack." I told her and left.


"Damn." I muttered, not knowing what to really say.

I didn't say anything for awhile then put my head in my hands. "I feel like I'm gonna be sick," I whispered.

I went and grabbed a bucket, bringing it back to her. I thought about the argument I had with Asher right before he left "God, I'm such a dick." I said, wondering if Elena would hold it against me or not.
