Darnell & Leyla

I ran and locked the door, praying he'd come back okay.

We got back to the camp and just at the edge of Darnell and Leyla's house when we ran into Darnell "Hey, is everything alright?"

"Thank god you're alright. And no, I heard a gunshot, did you see anyone out there?" 

I shook my head "No, we didn't. I'm sorry, I went to warn Chad about Rhett and they wanted to see me back safely."

"You should have told me you were going out there, I would've gone with you. It's fine though, we were waiting for you to get back. We're moving to the other camp. I'm not staying here anymore, not with Emily." 

"Really? Oh, good I can't wait to get out of here."

"We have room in our cabin, you can stay with us if you need to." 

"Yeah, absolutely."


"Thanks, but I don't want to intrude on you guys."

"It wouldn't be an itrusion. It's just the two of us, we have plenty of room. And not that you can't take care of yourself, but you'd be better protected if you had both of us with you."



"It's up to you Cody."

"Well..." I thought about it for moment. "Okay. I'll stay with you and Owen. But I want to make sure Darnell and Leyla get settled with Emily first, is that alright?"

"Yeah of course. I'll come with you so I can walk back to the cabin with you."

All of a sudden a woman came barreling through the woods, she had some kind of weapon in her hand and when she saw us she went into a defensive stance. "Woah. The hell is that thing?"

"Sherri?! Stop. What the hell, what's wrong?"

"Darnell?" I put my staff down and got closer "Oh, I'm so sorry. I'm a little on the defensive...obviously." I stopped talking because I had to catch my breath from my running. "I'm leaving, Carlisle. I'm going to Faye and Jason's but I had to defend myself against Carlisle. He was refusing to let me leave."

"Are you serious? What did he do to you?"

"He blocked the door so I had to move him the hard way. I didn't want a confrontation but he wouldn't listen to reason."

I shook my head. "Are you and Gabi alright?"

"We are. I just done what needed...to be done. I've been practicing for weeks."

"Good. I'm glad you thought to practice. Come on, let's get over there," I said and headed deeper into the woods towards the other camp.
