Clarrissa Haynes

"Please, I can't... I can't move," I said, not knowing if it was from the pain or the fear. Another pain hit and I cried out, gripping the table harder. He hurried over and helped me over to the bed so I could lay down. "I must've... started having... contractions... when I was sleeping... I don't think it's... supposed to happen this fast."

"I...I have no idea." I didn't know what in the hell to do. I hoped a doctor or nurse came back quick. "When someone comes back I'll go find your brother."

I nodded. "O-okay. Thank you," I said and tried to take deep breaths.

Clarissa

"You're welcome." I said and went into the bathroom to get towels to clean up the area where her water had broke.

"You... you don't have to... to stay here. I'm... I'm sure she'll be... back soon," I said and moaned in pain when another contraction hit.

"No, I'll stay with you. I won't leave you alone." I told her and waited until the nurse came back with the doctor "I'm going to get Colton." I said and quickly left.

I watched him leave then looked at the doctor. "What... what do I do? I've... I've never done this before."

I started explaining everything to her and then patted her hand gently "Your body will also know what to do. All on it's very own, just listen to it." I said and then we started to administer the pain medication.
-Doctor

I sighed a little when they kicked in. "That... that helped. Thank you."

"You're welcome. We're going to start prepping you and we have some monitors we can hook you up to." I told her as my nurses started getting everything prepared.
-Doc

"Okay. What... what are the monitors for?"

"To keep on eye n your vitals and the baby's heartbeat. It's standard procedure, nothing to worry about."
-Doc

I nodded a little. "Oh okay."



I knocked on the door and cracked it open a little. "It's Colton, can I come in?"



"Yeah you can come in," I said, making sure the sheet was covering me from the waist down.

"You go, I'll stay outside in the hall. She probably wouldn't be comfortable with me being in there."

"Alright. Thanks again Lydia," I said and went in the room. "Hey sis, how are you doing?"



"Fine, for right now. The doctor gave me pain meds. Can you... stay up by my head though? I don't think you want to see down there, and I know I don't want you to."



I chuckled. "Yeah, that was the plan," I said and moved up by her head. "How are things coming along so far?" I asked the doctor.

"Good and steady. Delivery isn't far away now."
-Doctor

"Yeah I can tell," I said and put my hands on my stomach, breathing through the intense pressure. At least it wasn't bone crushing pain now though.

We waited a little while longer and examined her again. "Your ready now." I told her and positioned her legs as two nurses came to her sides to assist.

I felt the overwhelming urge to push and they helped me sit up. I gripped their hands hard and cried out as I pushed as hard as I could.

Between each push we would have her lay back and count to ten before the next try. She did well, and the baby was out in a matter of twenty minutes or so. The nurses took him and wrapped him in a cover, suctioning the mucus out of his nose and mouth. "It's a boy, congratulations."

I watched them the whole time, this irrational fear inside of me that something was going to happen and they wouldn't let me keep him. "Is he okay? Let me see him."



"He's beautiful sis. You did great," I said and kissed the top of her head.

The nurses placed the boy in her arms and started to show her how to properly breastfeed the child. We'd been given strict orders that the boy was to stay with his mother.

"I'm going to step out while you do that okay?" I said and hugged her gently. "I'll come back in a little bit," I said and kissed my nephew's head.



"Okay. Thank you for being here Colton. I don't know what I would do without you."



"I'll always be here for you sis," I said and hugged her again before leaving the room.

I was sitting in the floor, my back against the wall when Colton came out "Hey, how is she?" I asked, looking up at him.

I smiled. "She's good. And I have a new nephew. He's super cute, but she was getting ready to breastfeed so... thought it would be best to leave while she did that."
