I smiled. "I always have been. My mother always said if you want to be noticed, you have to speak your mind."

"Your mother is right."

I smiled. "She was right about most everything. She was a very smart woman. I like to think I take after her in some things."

"I'm sure you do. Do you have any siblings?"

"No, it's just me. I don't have any family left."

"I'm sorry to hear that. Can I ask what happened?"

"I was an only child. My parents died in a car accident when I was very young."

"Who raised you? If that isn't too personal to ask?"

"No, it's fine. My grandmother did, but she was already well into her years when she took me in. She died with I was sixteen, and I've been on my own ever since."

"That must have been hard, I'm happy that you did have her though. Even if it was for a short time."

"Me too. I loved her more than I think I've ever loved anyone. It was really hard when she was gone, but I was glad she wasn't in pain anymore. She had cancer."

Thinking of my own mother's suffering, I frowned a little. "Cancer is a terrible sickness, I would hate to see a relative or someone I care for sick."

"Yeah, it's not something I would ever wish on anyone."

Our drinks were brought to us and we placed our dinner orders "You had a lot to say today during the council meeting. I enjoyed that to say the least."

I smiled. "I'm glad you enjoyed it. Like I said, I speak my mind. I won't keep my opinions from anyone. Not even your father."

"That's good, I wouldn't want you to."

"Well then you won't be disappointed, in that aspect at least."

"I'm sure I won't find any of your aspects disappointing."

I raised my eyebrows a little. "Are you hitting on me Micah?"

I chuckled and took another drink "I didn't mean to but I guess I sorta did."

I smiled. "I can't say I really minded that much," I said, taking a sip of my wine.

"Then you're welcome." I smiled as they brought our dinner out.

I smiled back at him then picked up my fork. "I can't believe you haven't been here before. The food is amazing."

"Well, I'm still sort of new in town and working has kept me pretty busy. It's always something."

"I can totally understand that. Well, taste what you have in front of you and you won't be able to resist coming back," I said and took a bite, the flavors exploding in my mouth.
