Mess Hall

I rolled my eyes, like she was the only one who had lost anything? Okay. I thought to myself and went back in, setting beside of Timber "So much for no one giving you any trouble. You lied."

"You asked me if anyone had been bothering me. I told you the truth. It doesn't bother me, I'm used to it," I said quietly, staring down at my plate.

"Don't give it a twist, Timber. You knew what I was asking you, and it may not bother you but it does me." I told her "Who else? Show me right now, please."

"I am not going to be the cause of you getting into fights with people you care about, people who are still healing. Just drop it Asher. Please," I said and looked at him.

"You're healing too and they don't give two fucks about that. Healing or not, it's bullshit." I told her, shaking my head "No one can let go of the past, it's infuriating. We didn't bring everyone out here so they could dwell. They won't heal until they let it go."

"And you can't make them," I said quietly and put my hand on his cheek. "They have to make that decision for themselves. This is all still new, and there's a lot of bad blood. I've made so many mistakes Asher. Yes I had my reasons, but that doesn't make any of it right. I realize that, and I accept that. Everyone just needs some time. Don't fuel the fire."

"Don't fuel the fire? You better tell them that, I'm already about explode."

"I just meant they're already upset, but they'll get over it eventually. How is it going to help anything if you go storming up to them and start bitching at them about it? It's just going to make them more pissed. Why can't you just let it go? It's just words Asher, I've been hurt way worse. I can handle it."

"I don't care what their reasons are, we're all trying to make it here. They need to see that too, I'm not in the wrong defending you."

"I never said you were, and I love that you want to, I really do. I just know it's not going to help anything and they're just gonna hate me more."

I didn't say anything, we finished eating and started walking back to the house "I need to do a few things and I'll be home. Alright?"

"Oh. Okay, yeah sure. What do you need to do?"

"Check on dad and Darlene. I'll get the little ones to bed when I get there and check on Bella too."

"I can get them to bed, don't worry about it baby. I'll get the girls to bed and check on Bella then hang with Sebastien until he gets tired or you get back. Take your time over there okay?"

"Alright, thanks." I told her and pulled her to me, kissing her gently "I love you, I'm sorry for being such a hot head. I guess after the stuff with Ethan...I just felt like fighting."

I smiled and leaned up, kissing him softly back. "It's okay. I understand, I promise. I just... I don't want to be the cause of anymore pain."

"I know, it's going to get better. I promise. Be back soon." I kissed her again and watched her walk home and go safely inside. I made my way over to Elena's.

We got to the Mess Hall and she sat while I made us both plates and brought them over. "Wasn't sure what you wanted so I got a little bit of everything," I said and laughed a little, still amazed at the amount of food they always had readily available here, we'd never eaten so well back in the districts.

I got to the Hall and saw even more people. I saw jack and went over. "where did you get a whole town from dude?"

I shrugged a little. "They all came from the Districts. Seems there was another raid and they fled, made their way here." I looked at him as I made him a plate. "You alright? Not used to the women yet?" I asked and chuckled a bit.

"Dude, one was in the showers....i ....yeah." i said and took the plate. "Now, where the hell is Brett. I met his sister, lovely girl, not."

"Ah you met Lea. Not get along with her?" I asked and laughed at the look on his face. "Brett's with his girlfriend, a lovely woman by the name of Selma. He'll be around sometime later. Did you need him for something important?"

"Nope was just letting him know i am back. I swear i feel like i slept forever. Ill catch ya around man."

"I'm sure you needed it. Catch ya later man."

"Thank you, I'm so hungry I could eat it all."
