Carter Ackermann

I turned her head up so we were staring into each other's eyes. "You do?" 

"I never stopped."

"Neither did I," I said and brought her face closer to mine, kissing her slow and deep. "Stay with me," I whispered against her lips.

I nodded and smiled "I'd love to." 

"Thank god, I don't think I could bear to let you go," I said and kissed her again.

I was in a world of predicament now but I wouldn't worry about that tonight. Tonight I just wanted to be happy with him. "Do you really mean that?"

"Yes. More than I've ever meant anything. I love you. I never want to be without you again," I said and kissed her again.

I yawned a little "I love you too."

"You should get some sleep baby, you look exhausted," I said, pulling her against my side and pulling the covers over us. "I love you. Sweet dreams," I said and kissed her softly, lingering for a moment.

"So do you, sweet dreams." I smiled again and kissed him one last time before closing my eyes.

I watched her sleep for a little bit then fell asleep myself, holding her against me.

Carter

I woke up the next morning to Daphne's crying and I eased out of bed and pulled on one of Carter's shirts. I got up and went over to the room next door where she slept and started changing her diaper and then I would get breakfast started.

I woke in the morning and dressed, then went to go see how Brooke was doing. I knocked on the door, hoping it wasn't too early and I wasn't waking her up.

I was still holding Daphne when there was a knock on the door. I went to answer it and glancing out the window I seen that it was Jon and my heart sunk. Oh, god. He couldn't see my in Carter's shirt but I couldn't just throw Daphne back in her cradle and change or she'd throw a huge fit. "Fuck." I muttered and sighed deeply. I held Daphne close to me with one arm and opened the door with the other. "Good morning." I smiled.

"Hey," I said then noticed she was in just a shirt. I frowned. "Am I interrupting something?" 

"No, no of course not. I forgot to do my laundry so Carter let me borrow a shirt. It's no big deal...do you want to come in?"Seriously? Why in the hell did I just ask him that considering what happened last night? Way to go, Brooke.

"Oh. Um... sure if you don't care. I just wanted to check on you, make sure you're doing okay." 

I stepped out of the way so he could come in and then I closed the door behind him. "I'm doing okay, I should be the one asking you that question. Did you manage to get any sleep last night?"

"Not really. But I'm alright." 

"You can't lie to me. I know you too well." I told him as Daphne started to make her usual baby sounds. "This is Daphne, by the way."

"She's cute. How do you like... living here? And where is Carter anyway?"

"I like it and he's still asleep for now." 

"Oh okay. So are you doing alright?" I asked, the situation feeling awkward for some reason.

I smiled "Yeah, I'm doing alright. Do you want something to eat or drink?"

"Sure. Water would be great," I said as Carter came in.



"Hey... What's going on?" I asked, going over and taking Daphne when she started to fuss a little. "Aww, did you want Daddy sweetheart?" I said and kissed the top of her head.
