Jason & Faye

"We'll be fine, Faye. I've done my own exploring around when I was younger, I know we can live outside of these districts."

I nodded and laid down so my head was in his lap. "Okay. I trust you Jason."

I kept driving until we reached the end of District 6, we got our things together and went through the fence "Here we go." I told her "Just hold my hand, we'll have to go through the night in order to gain some ground."

"I'm ready Jason. I'm ready for anything as long as I'm with you." I held his hand tight as we went through the fence and into the woods.

I started telling her about my childhood, about how my grandfather and father taught me everything I know "Being a Peacekeeper was the last thing I ever wanted, but I wanted a good paying job too so...you know how it goes."

I nodded. "Yeah, I know. It's the only job that pays worth anything anymore." I got quiet a minute then sighed. "I was never really... in love with Jasper. I was young when he proposed to me, you remember, when he was just starting to rise in the ranks, and I would've done anything to get out from under my father's thumb. Things were good for awhile... then everything started changing."

"I know...I'm sorry you had to deal with that. You really didn't deserve it."

"I thought... that it was normal, that's just the way things were... then when we started to... be together... I realized things could be different. I longed for that... every single day."

"Now you'll have it." I smiled down at her.

I smiled. "I'm looking forward to it, more than you know. No matter how hard or how dangerous things get, I know everything will be okay because I'm with you."

"I promise to make you happy, Faye. I'll do everything I can to give you what you desire."

"You already have Jason. All I desire is you," I said and gave his hand a squeeze.

I raised her hand to my lips and kissed it gently and we continues to push forward.

We walked for hours, talking about everything, if anyone was looking for us yet. It started to get light and I looked up at him. "Should we find somewhere to sleep for the day? Just in case they are looking for us? We need to rest anyway."

"Yeah, let's find a spot." I said, looking around and I spotted a cave. I went over and expected it "This should be good."

"That'll work fine, we have a few blankets." We went inside and put our bags down then laid the blankets out. He laid down and I laid down beside him, smiling when he pulled me into his arms. "I love you Jason," I said and kissed him.

"I love you too, Faye. It's been a long night, close your eyes and rest."

I nodded and curled up closer to him, laying my head on his chest. The day and night had been long and I was exhausted. I kissed his chest then fell quickly asleep.

We slept through the night, holding each other closely. I woke the next morning and gently worked my way out of her arms. I went outside and started to construct some traps.

I woke up and Jason was nowhere to be found. I felt a stirring of panic and left the cave, finding him outside. "There you are. What are you doing baby?"

"Just making some traps to catch rabbits and other critters in. Did you sleep well?"

I nodded a little. "Yeah, I slept okay. How about you?"

"It was alright." I said, finishing the traps "We'll need these once we get to where we are going."

"It's good that you have them. At least we'll be able to catch food. Um... I really hope you know how to skin them and everything... I'm kind of hopeless at this... outdoorsy stuff," I said quietly, feeling a bit embarrassed.
