Brett & Selma

"I love you too and that's why this hurts so damn bad. I just...I need some time or something. Fuck I don't know."

"If it hurts so bad why are you leaving? Please don't, please, I'll do anything. I'm so sorry Brett." He didn't say anything just kept on packing and I went back in the other room. I couldn't watch him... couldn't watch him walk out... I sat on the couch and put my head in my hands, my tears turning to sobs. I'd fucked everything up. I'd ruined everything, and I'd lost him now.

I hadn't realized it but I was crying. Fuck. This was so...messed up right now. I wiped my eyes and came out of the bedroom. "If you need me...I'll be at Dean and Lea's." I told her and walked out the door. Leaving her, Zoey, and Raine hurt so bad I'd probably die from it.

I heard the door shut and started sobbing harder, the pain so bad I thought I would split right in two.

Selma - I heard a knock on the door and went to answer it. "Quin, Aurora, come on in," I said and hugged them both. "Quin how are you feeling?"

Quin - "I'm fine Mom, you don't need to worry about me. We need to talk to you about something though."

Selma - "You're my son, Quin, I'm always gonna worry about you. What do you need to talk to me about?"

Quin - "Well... me and Aurora have decided we're getting married today. We don't want to wait any longer."

Selma - "Oh sweetheart, I'm so happy. For both of you. It's about time," I said and hugged them both hard. "I love you both so much. We're past due for something really happy."

Something was off with her but I wasn't going to mention it...yet. "Thank you, Selma. I knew you'd be happy for us."

"Of course. How could I not be."



"I have to... talk to you about something else too."



"What is it? You can talk to me about anything."

"While you talk to your Mom I'm going to go see mine and tell her our good news. Is that okay?"

"Yeah baby, that's fine," I said and kissed her.

"I'll see you in a bit then." I smiled and left.

Selma - "What did you want to talk about sweetheart?"

Quin - "Parker. Who is he?"

Selma - I sighed a little and sat down on the couch. "I've been kind of afraid of when you would come ask me that. And... I should've come to you. I should've talked to you about him a long time ago."

Quin - "What do you mean? What are you talking about?" I asked and sat down beside her. "I had a dream last night... I was really little, and I think it was before Raine was born. You were there, but I knew Dad was gone at work, and Parker was there. I called him Uncle Parker, but you've never talked about him. He didn't look a think like Dad, so I know it wasn't his brother or anything, and... I know he wasn't your relative because you... well you kissed him. I've never seen him before in my life though. That I remember anyway. I just... wondered if you could shed some light on it."

Selma - I sighed again. "You have seen him before Quin. He was around all the time when you were little. And then he had to leave. And now he's out here."

Quin - "Out here? What do you mean, I haven't seen... Wait..." Something vague came to me and I rubbed my face, trying to remember. "Was he... did he help me home yesterday?"

Selma - I nodded. "Yeah. Yeah he did."

Quin - "So who is he?"

Selma - "He's..." I sighed and looked away from him. "Quin he's... he's your real father. Your birth father. I had... I had an affair... very early in my marriage with your dad. I wasn't really in love with your dad when I married him. I fell in love with Parker and... and after you were born... he came around a lot. He wanted to be in your life. And he was... your dad's best friend... so we called him Uncle Parker. I never... I never told your father what I did. Up to the day he... died... he never knew. Parker got in trouble with the Capitol and he had to leave. You were very young. You asked about him for awhile and then... you stopped after awhile. I... I'm so... so sorry I... I never told you... I should have and I know that and... I'm just really sorry."

Quin - I sat there stunned. "I don't... even know what to say to you right now. How could you never tell me? I... I have to go... I have to go get ready. I don't... know when the wedding's gonna be today but... but I gotta... go... I gotta go," I said and stood up.

Selma - "Quin please don't leave like this. Please, can we just talk about this?"

Quin - She put her hand on my arm but I shrugged it off. "I'm sorry. I have to go," I said and walked out, shutting the door behind me.
