In Town

"Yeah." I sighed and ran a hand through my hair. "They're not gonna go easy. Raine man... She's gonna flip. She's still not doing good." 

"None of them are going to go easy but they trust us, Q. They know we wouldn't surrender to any fucking body unless it's necessary."

I sighed. "I know." I looked around at the houses, smoke coming out of some of them. We'd made a home here and things had been going well until recently. "We should've kept going. We shouldn't have stopped here." 

"Do you think this is the end of the line for us?" 

I looked back at him. He wasn't just my friend. He was my brother. Always had been. "I don't know honestly. We did a lot of shit back there. They came all the way out here to get us. Doubt they're gonna let all that go." 

I nodded slowly and sighed "Yeah, they seem pretty determined. Do we live to fight another day, then?"

I managed a small smile. "Always." 

"Always." I agreed "How do we tell everyone and keep them semi-calm at the same time?"

"I don't know. I was hoping you'd have an idea. We'll need to tell the adults first. Let each family tell their kids." 

"Yeah, I think that's best." I went back over to Micah "We want to tell the adults first and then allow them to tell their kids. Can you give us time to do that?"


"I can but you should try to hurry a little, my Father isn't known for his patience."

"Well if he wants this to go as smoothly as possible he's gonna have to find some," I said and went to find Aurora.

"He's right. Go back and tell Daddy Dearest this might take a few minutes." I said and left to go find Timber and the other members of my family.

I went back into the woods where he waited with Alexis "They are telling their families. They know the chances of escaping are slim to none."

I'd been helping clean up the infirmary when Asher came back in. "What's going on? Is everything okay?" I asked when I saw the look on his face.



"Good. Give them 15 minutes then move the troops in."

"Not exactly. Gather our family at the house. Dad, Mom, Ezra, everyone. Elena, Trent and Alicia too. Okay?"


"Yes, Sir."

I was sitting by Chase's bed when Quin came in "Are you alright?"

I didn't say anything for a minute. "Okay. We'll... we'll meet you over there." 



I shook my head. "No. Gather the family up and meet me at the house." 

I bent down and kissed her "Alright. I'll see you in just a few."


I nodded "Alright."

"I love you," I said and kissed him back then went to gather everyone up.



"I love you. I'll see you over there," I said then went back outside.

"It's time. Let's roll out," I said, giving the signal to my troops.

"They're cooperating with you, you could give them a few more minutes."

"I've already given them twenty. It'll take a few minutes to get into camp too. It's time to go." 

"We may outnumber them but I am 100% certain that they are more fierce and deadly than anyone here. Remember that." I told him and walked off to make sure the soldiers were doing what needed to be done and I needed to bring the medics to the front.

"Which is why I have hundreds of guns trained on their camp right now. Stop second guessing me Micah. You may be second in command right now, but I make the decisions around here. Remember that." 

"I wasn't second guessing, just stating a fact. Just because you make the decisions doesn't necessarily make them the right ones now does it? Have some integrity Father, really."

"If you have something to say Micah, spit it out. You've certainly made your opinion on the subject very well known though, so I really don't see the need for you to open your mouth any further."
