Charles & Darlene

"Poor kids have had a hell of a time haven't they? I'm happy to see them finally tying the knot."

"So am I. It's been a long time in coming," I said then trailed off when I saw a man leaving a house. I rubbed my eyes and blinked. "Am I... am I seeing things? I have to be seeing things," I said, feeling slightly faint.

"What do you mean? What's wrong, baby?"

"I... is that... god that looks just like him. But... o-older. J-Jonathon. It can't be though, he's dead."

I looked around in the same direction as her and the man caught my eye as well. I didn't need to study him or look any closer to know who he was. What the fuck was going on? "Here, hold Alyssa." I said and put our daughter in her arms. Once she had her I turned "Jonathon!" I yelled to see if he'd turn around or not.

"Fuck...." I muttered and slowly turned around.


"Oh my god," I whispered. Pepper was walking by and I turned slowly to look at her. "Could you... could you keep an eye on the girls for a minute? Please?"

"Sure, is everything alright? You look like you're going to be ill." I asked her when Charles took off walking...quite quickly.


"You fucking son of a bitch." I almost growled and as I got closer I took off at a run and tackled him down to the ground.

"I think I very well might be," I said and handed Alyssa to her. I made sure she had Jaclyn too then started walking over there.



I shoved him off me but he came back and slugged me hard right in the face. "God damn it Charles, get off me! Let me explain!"

I had dropped by Carter's house earlier and talked him into bringing the baby out to the mess hall to have breakfast with us even though him and Brooke had already ate. We were coming out when I heard a commotion. "What the hell?" I asked and seen Charles on top of some other guy, hitting him in the face. I took off in their direction and grabbed a hold of Charles, barely hauling him off the guy. "Hey, come on! Come on, that's enough!"

"What the hell is this?! Jonathon?!"



"Darlene..." I sighed and ran my hand through my hair. "Let me explain. Please." I put my hand up then slowly got to my feet, wiping the blood off my face. "Just let me explain."



"Oh please do. I can't wait to hear this. Please explain to me how the fuck you are here! How the fuck you are not dead. Like I thought you've been for the past 20 fucking years."

"Start talking. NOW."


"Wait...excuse me? Jonathon as in...Ezra's Dad?"

"Yes please do, I can't wait to hear what you have to say for yourself, what excuse you've come up with."



"I'll tell you everything. I promise. Can we... take this somewhere a little more private though?"



"Oh you're damn right you will, you sick soon if a bitch. I think this is as good a place as any though. Start talking. NOW. Where the fuck have you been? What the fuck was going through your head? You - obviously - faked your death. You let me believe, let all of us believe, that you were dead, WHY? Why did you leave me?! And your daughter?! You have a daughter Jonathan, did you forget about her?! She's 20 now, and she's been through more than you could ever possibly imagine, and you should have been there for her! You should have been there for her and you weren't! You left! Why!"



"I had no choice Darlene. You have to believe that."

"You keep saying that but you have yet to go into details. Incase you haven't noticed...details are necessary at the moment." I was glaring at him and I wanted to kill him myself.


Holy shit. I didn't even know what the fuck to say. Wow, my mind was blown.

"I had to leave. The Capitol forced me out. Right along with Parker and Brayden. We did something... incredibly stupid. But we were doing it for a good reason. We're lucky they didn't execute us on the spot. They banished us, and said if we ever showed our faces again... they'd kill our families. All of them. I loved you Darlene. And Ezra... she was just a baby. I was doing what I thought I had to, to protect you. And I knew Charles would take care of you. It's obvious he has, and... I'm more grateful than I can say. I didn't stay in contact with you because I was afraid someone would find out. That the wrong person would find out. That's the same reason Parker never came back, they threatened Quin. He did what he felt he had to, to protect his son. Braydon's just a homicidal idiot, he's not afraid of anything. That's why he came back when he could. I swore him to secrecy, I didn't want you coming out here to try to find me, it was too dangerous. Anything could've happened."

Jonathon

"What. The. Fuck. Did. You. Do. And what the hell are you talking about Quin? Carl is his father, and he's dead now, by the way. A lot of people are dead. A lot of people have been hurt, and... hurt in ways I'm not even going to go into with you."

Darlene

Everyone had pretty much gathered around when they heard the fussing. How could you not? It was...quite the scene. Man, this made me feel like utter shit. It really did. None of this should have happened the way it did. I didn't want to say anything, I didn't want to hurt Selma or Quin more than I already had.

"We stole... something. From the Capitol. We broke into the President's mansion. And we got caught."

Jon

"What!?" I hissed "Are you all fucking crazy? Who were you doing it for? And don't say yourselves."

"Not for ourselves, no. For Tywin. He wanted to leave. As quietly as possible. And he needed... what we stole... to accomplish that."

Jon

"You fucking... selfish... bastard," I whispered and slapped him as hard as I could across the face. "I wish your death hadn't been fake. I wish you were dead."

Darlene

"I think I can take care of that." No one had noticed me come up, but I'd heard the whole thing. Or at least enough. And I had my bow and arrow or and aimed straight at him.

Ezra

"Ezra...?"

Jon

My mind was completely frazzled so hunting today was totally useless. I was heading back to camp with a lot on my mind when I heard yelling and arguing...Jon's voice. I guess everything was coming out into the open now. My brain wanted to take my home but my heart....I sighed deeply....my crazy and ridiculous heart pulled my feet in the other direction. As I walked up on the scene Ezra had her arrow pointed towards Jonathon and I couldn't...I just couldn't let her do that. I kept going until I was standing in front of him. I lifted my gaze up to meet Ezra's "As much as you'd like...I can't let you do it."

"Get out of my way. Now." My voice was strangely calm. In fact, I was strangely calm. I wasn't even shaking. It was odd.

Ezra

The look in her eyes honestly frightened me a little. "Ezra. Put the bow down. He's not worth it."

Darlene

"No."

Ezra

"No." I said sternly.


I walked over to Ezra, my voice low. "Baby, don't do this. Jaclyn is watching...so are the other kids. We all need to go and talk about this somewhere private. Come on, it's Quin and Aurora's wedding day. You're standing up with her right?"

"It's his fault Caleb. It's all his fault. He should have been there. He left, he should have been there," I said, not moving, my eyes still on him.

Ezra

"What are you talking about?"

Jon

"Brooke. Move. Now."

Ezra

"Ezra... I'm sorry. Let's just go talk about this okay?"

Jon

"Don't talk to me. I don't want to hear anything you have to say."

Ezra

"No, Ezra."


We had been standing there watching and listening and....what the fuck. This whole day was so weird. First all of the Irene talk and now this. Trent had wondered out there too and I handed Amelia to him and went to Ezra. "Ezra, you know you can't be killing people in the middle of camp. Listen to Caleb. It really is best to step away from this while you still can."

"It's his fault Asher. It's all his fault. He should have been there. He's as guilty as they are. He should have been there." My hands were frozen, and while I knew I needed to stop, I couldn't seem to make myself.

Ezra

"He thought he was protecting you, Ezra. Maybe we should hear the man out. I know if someone threatened Adam or Amelia I'd do whatever it takes. You can't blame for something he has no knowledge of." I reached out and put my hand on her bow "Come on, let's lower this down."
