"Yeah I'm angry. How could I not be angry. I'm angry, and sad, about a hell of a lot of things. But mostly I can't help but think this is all my fault."

I stopped and looked at him "Wait, what?"

"I never wanted to be in Peacekeeper training, I only did it because my dad wanted me to. Growing up... Cameron always wanted to be just like me, do everything I did. That's the only reason he joined. He used to want to be an artist, or a musician, or a writer, something along those lines. Anyway, when he got old enough... he joined because I had. I never took the pills though, the "vitamins," like most of the other guys did. By the time I stopped training, he was already in too deep."

" Carter you didn't fail Cam. If anything, your father did. He shoulda been paying attention. Baby you aren't responsible, you aren't okay. I know it seems like it but its not. He loves you and all he wants is for you to te him you love him too. You do, don't you?"

"Of course I love him. He's my brother. It is my fault though, no matter what anyone says. I saw him changing... little by little and I did nothing. I did nothing Ronna. I could've stopped him before he got as bad as he did. But I was too busy doing my own thing to give him the time of day. Some big brother."

"You mean you were too busy with me. Say it Carter. If wed never met, you'd have been there for him. So this is my fault." I said, fighting tears. I stood up and went into the bathroom, slamming the door before sliding down and burying my face.

I stood there a minute, not even sure what to say, then went and knocked on the door. "Ronna. Ronna let me in. Where did that come from? That is not even what I was going to say."

"Just leave me alone, you didnt have to say it. It was clearly implied."

"No it wasn't. I'm sorry if what I said made you think that, but it's not true. I did not mean it like that. Please baby, open the door for me."

"No, now go talk to Cameron, or so help me ill sit in here til the sun shines again."

"If I go talk to him, really talk to him, will you please come out?"

"Yes, and i mean really talk to him." i said and opened the door. "Not just a few words, actually talk."

"Alright. I'll go talk to him," I said and went and knocked on Cameron's door. "Cam it's me, will you open up? I wanna talk."



I rolled my eyes and finished packing the rest of my things, zipped up my bag, and threw it in the corner. He kept knocking but I ignored him, laying down on the bed and staring at the ceiling.

I knocked and spoke through the door for what seemed like forever but he never answered, and I couldn't get the door open because he wouldn't unlock it. I sighed and slid down the wall, pulling my knees up and putting my head in my hands.

I slammed the bathroom door open and banged on Cams door. " open the fucking door Cam or I swear I'll kick the mother fucker down." I screamed.

"Go ahead!" I called through the door. "I've tried I don't know how many times to talk to him and he wouldn't give me the time of day. Why should I give in just because you're making him?"

"Look, I swear if you don't open this door. I'll leave Cam, into the snow. Leave you tell here all alone. So help me this is your family I'm carrying. You know damn well I can't make your brother do anything he doesn't wanna. Now open.the.door."

I opened the door and looked at her. "There, I opened it. Carter would do anything if it meant you wouldn't leave him, or so that his kid is safe. Which if you leave that's putting him or her in danger. I have no problems with you or my niece or nephew, I can't wait till he or she is born. But I'm done trying to talk to Carter. I've been trying for months and I'm over it. I don't want to hear anything he has to say. Let him have a taste of his own medicine for once," I said and shut the door again.

"I should've never come here. You guys have brought the ugliness with you. Both of you just stay away from me." I sobbed, turning and going back into the bathroom. I curled up in a towel and laid down.

"Damnit Cam," I said and pushed myself up, going back to the bathroom.



I opened the door and glared. "You're gonna blame me? You are such a dick Carter! I've been around for months trying to talk to you and all you've done is ignore me! Just about everyone fucking hates me here for something that wasn't even my fault! So you know what, after this fucking storm is over I'm done, I'm gone, I'm going to the other camp! Maybe I won't get fucking shunned there!" I yelled and slammed the door again. Fuck this, my own house and I was getting treated like shit. Nothing new. I was about to say fuck it and not even wait for the storm to be over. Hardly anyone would even give a shit if I ended up dead anyway.

I must have fallen asleep, it was dark and I was shivering on the floor. I sat up slowly, my body stiff. I opened the door and Carter jumped, having been leaning against it.

"Hey... oh baby you're freezing," I said jumping up and grabbing a blanket, wrapping it around her. "Are you okay? Of course you're not okay. I... god baby I'm so sorry. I don't even know what to do anymore, I just fuck everything up."

He led me to the couch and we laid down, his body warming mine. "No, just let him go. He's too mad right now. Lets just sleep okay." I said smuggling into him.

I nodded. "Okay baby," I said and pulled her closer to me.

He kissed my neck softly and I sighed, my body molded to his as I finally fell back asleep.
