Cameron

I got home and put my shit away and got some stuff out to make dinner. I got it cooking then sat on the couch, staring into the fire, trying not to think about the funeral and the ones who weren't here anymore... The ones who weren't coming back.

I wanted to go to Ezra but I had seen her going to Timber's house for now. Instead I had spotted Cameron heading back to his cabin and decided to follow him. We needed to talk, I needed to talk to Abi too she was still pissed off at me. When I got there I slowly knocked on the door.

I got up and went to the door and opened it. I stood there and stared at him for a minute, not saying anything, then left the door open and went back to sit on the couch, not really caring if he came in or not.

I walked in and shut the door behind me "Hey..."

"Hey yourself," I said, not looking at him.

"We need to talk, Cameron. But first...I'm really sorry about the way I've been acting." I sighed and sat down on the floor "I'm so fucking sorry for being a douche bag to you...I know it wasn't really you doing that stuff. It wasn't you trying to hurt Abi either."

I shrugged. "Thanks for the apology. Doesn't really matter to me anymore. I mean, I used to care that everyone hated me, now I couldn't care less. All I ever cared about was Abi and... well I've lost her, so nothing matters anymore."

I felt like such an ass, I should have forgiven him and moved on after we knew what was going on "What happened, Cameron? With Abi, I mean."

I shrugged. "She was with another guy through the storm, that same asshole that's had his eye on her since we got here. I went looking for her after the storm let up and found them pretty cozily huddled together by the fire." I shrugged again. "We got into a huge fight, we ended it, and I left. Should've known it was coming. Should've known she wasn't really over what happened back in Kampfer too. I was just naïve enough to believe she was."

"It's my fault she ended up there during the storm. We had an argument and she walked off into the woods...I wasn't thinking clearly I assumed she would be alright. Maybe they were just staying warm during the cold, Cam. Maybe it really was nothing because Abi was fighting for you. With me, with Carter. I really believe she's over it."

I shrugged. "It doesn't matter now Caleb. I'm just... I'm done... with everything. I'm done. I'm tired... just really tired of fighting. I'm better off here, alone."

"So, after everything you and Abi went through you'll just let her go because of a misunderstanding?"

"It wasn't a misunderstanding Caleb. You weren't there, so please don't pretend you know what happened."

"Alright, whatever you say." I shook my head "I wanted to come and apologize, I want us to be friends again if that's ever possible. I guess we can work on it...if you want that is." I stood up and went to the door "I'll catch you later, Cam." I said and left.

It had been weeks since I had spoke or seen Cameron, I wasn't sure if he wanted to even see me right now but someone needed to tell him about Ronna. Carter was busy taking care of her and Caleb had been busy too. I made it to his cabin and knocked.

I went to answer the door then just stood there for a minute. "Hey... what're you doing here?"

"I came to talk to you, can I come in?"

"Yeah... sure I guess so," I said and let her in, slowly shutting the door behind me. "So uh... what's up?" I asked, feeling like an idiot.

"It's Ronna. She's really sick, Cam. I'm worried about her and the baby, when her mom died she kinda...stopped fighting. Know what I mean?" I asked, trying not to show how upset I was.

"I didn't know her mom passed away. What else is wrong with her? Is she still fighting the pneumonia?"

I nodded "They can't treat her the way she really needs to be because of the pregnancy. Pepper and Carter has done all they can, now it's just a waiting game." I said "We've lost a lot of people..." I whispered.

"That's too bad. I... really hope she gets better soon," I said quietly. "Who... who all have you lost?"

I named him off the names of those we'd lost so far "More were sick but some of them eventually pulled through."

"Wow... I can't believe..." I ran my hand through my hair. "Why didn't anyone tell me?"
