Winter Simmons

I parted my lips a little as I leaned into him, letting him deepen the kiss a little.

I kissed her slow and easy so I didn't hurt her lip. I had just pulled away when her parents got home and walked in.


"How are you feeling sweetie?" I asked as I started checking her over.

"A little sore, but I'm fine, honestly. Daddy. Stop glaring at Lane."



"I'm not glaring. This is my... happy face. Lane was it? Where are you from and what are your intentions with my daughter?"

"Brady. He's obviously taken care of her while we were occupied. Lighten up." I laughed and shook my head "Don't worry, Lane. This is his payback for all of that chasing around he did with me back in the day."


I chuckled a little "It's alright." I told her "Well, I'm from the other camp. I was born and raised here and I'd my intentions fall along the lines of dating. If it's alright with the two of you."

"Am I supposed to give you my honest answer about that?"



"Daddy stop it. I am more than old enough to date."

"Honesty is the best policy, right? Won't hurt my feelings but it won't stop me from trying to convince you either."

"Fine. I don't want you to date my daughter. I don't know you, therefore I don't trust you, and being from that other camp doesn't help any. This isn't the first time someone from your camp has hurt someone here, it's just the first time it's a member of my family. Which just makes it worse."

"I had no idea any of that was going on until I started walking her home and I don't blame you for distrusting me...Diego, Carlisle and his lackeys have given us a bad rep now. So yeah, I get it. But I'm still going to work on that convincing part."

"Do your best. I can't promise anything."

"Don't worry, I will."


I couldn't help but look at Winter and smirk. This reminded me of my Dad telling Brady to stay away and Brady wouldn't back down.

I smiled back at her, loving that we could share a moment like this. I'd missed not being about to see them all the time.

"Brady why don't you go find Lane a place to sleep. I don't really think he should try to head back tonight."

I tried hard not to glare at her. "And why not? He's a big boy."



"Because it's late and with all the crazy shit going on, I think you should stay too Lane. Quit being a pain dad."



"I am not being a pain. I just don't want him sleeping here."



"Fine. If you don't want him to sleep here, why don't I have him carry me back to my cabin and he can just stay with me."

"Enough. I didn't necessarily mean that he sleep here. Just somewhere for the night where I won't worry if someone's going to jump him in his sleep." I said, looking at Brady and then turned to Winter "Chill. I mean it."

I rolled my eyes. "Fine. He can sleep on the couch. Winter you can stay in the extra bedroom. And Lane, just to let you know, I am a very light sleeper," I said and went to get some blankets and shit.

"Pay him no mind. He's just worried every boy is the same as he was."


I chuckled "Oh yeah? I can tell."


"Well, I got pregnant when I was 15 and he was 21."

"You were 15? You never told me that. That must've been hard. Dad has nothing to worry about. Lane is the perfect gentleman." Unfortunately, I thought to myself and smiled at him.

"It wasn't so bad." I smiled "We just didn't waste any time...my Father was a little unhappy though."

I smiled a little. "Yeah I bet," I said, feeling a twinge of sadness that I'd never gotten to meet my grandfather.

Brady came back "Looks like you found everything."

"Yup. Found everything just fine."

"Good, let's all get ready for bed. It's been a long night."

"Yeah, you got that right. Winter let me help you to bed," I said and gave her a don't-argue-with-me look.



I rolled my eyes. "Alright. Good night Lane," I said and kissed him softly. "Good night Mom."

"Goodnight, sweetie. Love you."


"Goodnight, Winter."

"Love you too." I let Dad help me in there and settled in bed, knowing it was going to be a long night.



"Here you go," I said and put blankets on the couch then took Dove's hand and pulled her to me.
