"Yeah, we are. We're really getting there."

"I'm happy for you guys, is there anything else I can do? I'll stay awhile though and see how Carter does."

"Naw we're good. Thank you though. And stay as long as you want. Not like I'm gonna kick you out or anything," I said and chuckled a bit.

"That's good to know." I chuckled as we walked back out to the living room where Abi and Carter were.

"You doing alright Carter?"



I hadn't stopped smiling down at her, especially when she'd reached her hand up and grabbed my finger. I knew I had tears in my eyes but I didn't care. All I could do was nod.

"Seems like she's slowly wrapping him around her finger. He won't be able to stay away now."

I smiled. "I was thinking the same thing."

"She'll have so many of us around to protect and love her she won't know what to do with herself when she's older."

"Probably go crazy," I said and chuckled a bit.

"That'll be our job." I chuckled.


I looked at Cameron and Caleb "Can I talk to you guys for a minute?" I asked. I'd been thinking about what Brooke had told us and I knew they needed to know. She just wasn't the same anymore, they could understand better if they knew.

"Yeah of course. What's up baby?"

I got up and went into the other room as they followed me and I shut the door "It's about Brooke. Something you need to know."

"Like what? Whatever it is you can tell us."

"She does know who kidnapped her...it was your Dad. Apparently she showed up at your house and overheard him talking about the drugs and the training program. He caught her....dumped her in the wilderness to die."

I didn't say anything for a minute. "What...? No... no that can't... He wasn't behind the drugs... he couldn't have been."

"I'm so sorry." I whispered and wiped my eyes, looking up to Caleb who was shocked as well. "I promised I wouldn't say anything but...others need to know."

"This has to be a... a mistake... There has to be an... an explanation or something... I... I need to go... find Brooke and... I need to talk to her," I said and opened the door, only to find Carter standing right there.

We all stopped, looking at Carter as he stood in the door way. I finally spoke up, turning to Cam "Listen, I don't think rushing over to Brooke is the best thing to do. Maybe she could come here and talk to us herself."

"Then get her here please," I said quietly and went back to the living room to check on Daphne, a million things running through my head.

"Will you, Caleb? I'll stay here."


"Yeah, sure. Give me ten minutes." I said and left the house, heading towards Brooke's. It took some convincing but she finally came with me, when we got back everyone was waiting in the living room.


"I'm sorry, Brooke."


"Don't be, it wasn't a secret I should have asked anyone to keep." I told her, unable to really look at Carter or Cameron.

"It's not true. It can't be true. Please tell me he didn't... do that to me. Please," I said quietly.



I sat down in front of her and lifted her chin up so she was looking at me. "Will you tell me everything that happened? Please?"

I looked him in the eyes and nodded "Yes."

I nodded. "Okay. Take your time."

I swallowed and thought about everything for a moment then I took a deep breath "You and Cameron had stayed late at the training center...I didn't know and we had made some plans to go out...when I knocked no one answered but I knew someone was home so I went inside anyway. I overheard your Dad talking about the drugs with some others in his office. I tried to leave without him noticing I was there...I was going to warn you then but he caught me." I said.

I didn't say anything for a minute, trying to keep the emotion off my face. "Then what happened?"
