The Infirmary

I managed to smile a little and took her hand again. "Guess we'll just have to worry about each other then, huh?"

I squeezed his hand a little "It seems that way doesn't it?" I smiled.

"Yeah it does. Wish we didn't have to worry so much though," I said quietly.

"It'll get better."

"I hope so. It's hard to... to believe that sometimes. You know?"

"We've been pretty down on our luck I guess, haven't we?"

"You could say that. For lack of better words." I sighed. "How much more of this can we take?" I asked quietly

I thought for a moment and sighed "As much as we have to. I'm not giving up."

"I don't want to either. Just... hard not to sometimes. You're all that keeps me going. Always have been. When I went back... and Jasper and Cade were... I thought of you... all the time... It's all that kept me going... that I had to make it through... I had to make it home... to you," I whispered, blinking back a few more tears.

"It wasn't really the homecoming you were expecting...I really messed up." I sighed and shook my head "I was such an idiot."

"No you weren't," I said and squeezed her hand again. "You weren't. I was. I should've... I should've just stayed. I'm glad they're dead, and they can't hurt anyone anymore, but... I never should've left you. I... I'm so sorry..."

"I forgive you...I really do. Do you forgive me? For what I did?"

"Yeah, I forgive you. I can't... I can't live without you. Being without you, it... it kills me. I can't do it," I whispered, wishing these damn tears would go away.

"Was living with Asher really that bad?" I teased him, trying to lighten the mood a little. I reached up and wiped the tears away and kissed his cheek.

"It had it's moments I guess," I teased and slowly turned my head. I stared into her eyes for a moment, then slowly covered her lips with mine, kissing her softly. "I love you," I whispered.

"I love you too." I smiled.

"I wish Pepper would get back. I want to know when I can go home. I just want to be home with you."

"I'm sure she'll be by here soon to check on you."

"I hope so. I've had more than enough of hospital beds to last me a few lifetimes."

"You were held up in one at Victoria's too weren't you?" I asked him the same time Pepper stepped in. "Hey."


"Hey there, how you feeling Q?"

"Yeah I was," I said then turned my head slowly to look at Pepper. "Like utter shit. I want to go home though."

"Let me check your vitals." I said and made my way over to the bed. I listened to his heart for a bit and checked his eyes "Well. There isn't much you can do here that you can't do at home. I'm sure Brett and Jack can help you home."

"Really?" I asked and she nodded. "Thank god. How long until I can get up and move around?"

"Why would you ask me that when we both know you won't listen anyway?" I smiled "Let Aurora help you until you feel confident enough to move around on your own without hurting yourself."

"Okay," I said then frowned a little. "Why wouldn't I listen?"
