Garrison & Brooke

I was so worried about everyone, especially Daphne. I was barely holding myself together at this point and I was still having a little difficulty getting around but not much. My ribs were healing and I had a cast on my wrist now. I wasn't sure how my face looked, it wasn't like we had any mirrors handy on the way here. When we got to his house he helped me from the car and I followed him inside.

"How are you feeling?" I asked after we got inside. 

"I'm worried about Daphne."

"Is that your daughter?" 

I nodded "Yes. They took her to have a medical evaluation. Do you know where?"

I shook my head. "Probably at the Capitol clinic. I'm sure you'll have her back soon." 

"I hope so. Do you...know anything about me?"

"I read your file. I know the basics up until you disappeared. I know you have a daughter with Carter Ackermann. Other than that... I don't know anything." 

"I was kidnapped by Kent Ackerman. He thinks I'm dead but..." I shrugged "The man he hired let me go." 

"Why would Kent Ackermann kidnap you? And how did that land you out in the wilderness?" 

"When I was dating Carter I went over to his house but he wasn't home yet. I overheard Kent talking to someone about drugging the trainees. He caught me listening in and tied me up then blindfolded me. Someone showed up and took me into the lower districts and kept me in a root cellar. Kent told him he could have his way with me and then he wanted me dead but instead....whoever that was took me into the wilderness and left me there."

I didn't speak for a few minutes, anger filling me. "It sounds like you were fortunate. You could've been killed... instead you ended up meeting up with everyone that left. And Carter. You got to reunite with him. How did that work, since his dad is the one that kidnapped you?" 

"It wasn't Carter's fault that it happened. I never blamed him." I wasn't even going to bring up Jon because my life just kept getting more complicated. Carter, Jon, and now a husband. "Then I was kidnapped again and beaten the second time around. I guess the freaks know a good victim when they see one. Anyway...I wanted to tell you that because he may come after me again."

"Let him. He won't get past me. And what do you mean kidnapped and beaten again? I wasn't given details about how you got injured. What happened?" 

I told him that story too. About being jumped in the woods and how I had to kill five men but I still wasn't quick enough to escape. I told him about what they did to us...most of it anyway. "Lea and Caitlin...are they with good men?"

"I don't know Atticus well, to be honest. Josh is a buddy of mine though, he's a good guy." 

"That's good then." I said. "Do you know what's going to happen to them? The men, I mean."

"Not yet. Tywin hasn't announced his plans. More than a few will stay in prison though, I imagine. I don't know about the rest of them." 

"I see." I said and looked towards the floor. "Can you show me where I'll be sleeping, please? I'd really like to lay down."

"Sure," I said and led her upstairs. "This one's your room. I hope everything's alright. I didn't know what you'd like but there weren't any sheets or anything on this bed yet. I had to put something on it." 

"I've spent months just sleeping on the ground before, even with the snow. The bed is fine."

"That doesn't sound very pleasant. How did you survive that?" I asked, curiosity about her life getting the best of me.

"A friend taught me how to survive. He found me in the woods wondering around after I was left there."

"What happened after that?"
