In Town

I nodded slowly. "It happens. She loves you, she's not gonna be mad forever over you throwing a hissy fit because you were upset. You've got every right to be upset."

"I don't believe he's gone Jack. Maybe I'm in denial but I just don't believe it."

"Then hold tight to that," I said and poured us both some more. A few hours later, he'd drank a ton and was slurring damn near every word that came out of his mouth. "Come on man, let's get you home," I said and helped him up, putting my arm around him so he wouldn't fall, and helped him back to his house.

It had taken me a little while to make it into the Wilderness camp due to my injuries I had suffered in the games but I was healing. I started approaching the camp when I noticed some Capitol vans parked with the doors open and a young woman was getting supplies from the back. I stopped to watch her, she looked familiar.

I had filled a couple of bags with what Adalee would need and turned around, ready to head back to their house. I froze when I saw him, all my breath leaving me. "No... no, not you," I breathed out, backing up until I hit the van, unable to go any further.

Oh, shit. Just my luck. I thought to myself as I dropped my pack to the ground and held my hands up slowly "Easy, alright? I'm not going to hurt you, I swear." Why did the first person I see have to be this girl? Not that I blamed her, but damn.

"You're not gonna hurt me? Really? Fuck you!" I yelled, dropping the bags and pulling out my knife. "Don't you come near me, you son of a bitch!"

"Woah. I'm staying put okay? You can see my hands, I'm not reaching for anything. Call for help if you need to but I promise I'm not here to hurt you and I'm alone." I told her, seeing the fear in her eyes. I was still healing, I really didn't want to get stabbed again.

"Go back where you came from! No one fucking wants you here! And you better be alone because I swear to God if your piece of shit brother is here I'll fucking kill him myself! I should kill you too after what you did!"

"What the fuck are you doing here?" I demanded, getting in front of Izzy and pulling out my own knife too.

Brady and I were right behind Ryan "What the hell is this?" I asked him and looked towards Owen "Can someone tell us why the two of you are holding Owen at knife point?"

"He's one of the SICK FUCKS that beat the shit out of Ryan while I was getting raped."

"What? Is that true?" I asked, looking at Owen.


"It's true but I can explain. Jasper and Cade were feeding us drugs that we didn't know about while we were in the program, told us they were vitamins and shit. They started making us crazy and doing things we wouldn't normally do. We were becoming violent...they made sure they got us good and wild before taking us to the lower districts...my little brother he..." I looked over at her "He raped her." I told them "We wouldn't have done that shit if we had been ourselves. Once our parents found out what was going on they put a stop to it."

"Yeah well they put a stop to it a little too late, didn't they," I said, my voice heavy with sarcasm. "He can't fucking stay here, it's bad enough that Cameron's at the other camp! This place is supposed to be safe."



"Alright, let's just calm down and talk about this."








"No, you know what, I'm done talking. He should be fucking shot," I said and turned around, heading for the house, then turned back around. "I hope you feel good about what you did. Hope you feel good that you're nothing but a piece of shit! That's all you'll ever be! You ever come near me and I'll cut your fucking throat. That's not a threat it's a fucking promise," I said and ran for the house.

"I should go ahead and do everyone here a favor and end you, it's not fair that you're here and Izzy will never see peace because of it." I snarled as I lunged at him with my blade.

I'd heard the yelling outside and came out just in time to see Ryan go after Owen. "Hey!" I yelled and ran to him, grabbing him around his waist and stopping him. "Watch it!" I yelled and grabbed his wrist holding the knife when he almost cut me. "Stop it, that's enough!"

Carter

I jerked away from him but I didn't go after Owen again "You know what he did! What's your problem!?"

"I know what he did, but I also know it wasn't his fault. You know about the drugs. I know that doesn't make any of it any easier, but it doesn't change the fact that it wasn't his fault either. Killing him isn't going to solve anything. Now put your damn knife away."

Carter

I stared Owen down and reluctantly put my knife away "Fucking have it your way then." I said and walked off to find Izzy.

"I want to know what happened. Every fucking detail. Right now. We came out here for peace and safety, not to be breaking up fights every fucking second," I said, still confused over what was going on. I knew Owen, and Rafe, they weren't like that.

Brady

I explained everything that had happened back then to him and assured him there was no way I was like that anymore "When my brother realized what happened he tried to kill himself...coming off of those drugs was no picnic. We felt like we were literally dying. He tried to take off once too, Quin Bast already shot him once over what happened but Rafe didn't come with me. I'm alone."

"Alright. Well... I'm gonna have to talk to Jack about this. It's his call. But seeing as he let Cameron stay I don't see him turning you out. I don't think... staying close... would be the best idea. For your personal safety, if you know what I mean. If I heard Isabelle right, he went to stay at the other camp... whatever that is, we only saw this one."

Brady

"It's fine, really. I didn't want to stay in the main camp anyway but I wanted to let you guys know I made it here."

"Well I'm glad you're okay. I really am. How are you doing? Might be a stupid question, but I'm asking it anyway."

Brady

I shrugged my shoulders slightly "I feel pretty numb these days." I said and the hurt started to come back but I quickly pushed it away again "Look. Tell your friend Jack I''ll be staying in the woods away from everyone else and I won't be any trouble. If you guys need me that's where I'll be." I said and picked my pack back up "See you around." I said and left.


"Damn." I sighed "No wonder he wants to be alone. He dealt with Cade and Jasper first and then Nicholai. We'lll keep an eye on him."

"Yeah definitely. I can't believe all that shit went down and I didn't even know what was going on. Too wrapped up in my own shit I guess," I said then turned to Carter. "Thanks for pulling him away from Owen."






"No problem. "I have to get back to Ronna now though, she's still not feeling good, and the pregnancy isn't helping."







"Ronna? Ronna Livingston that lived in 4? I didn't know you guys were together. And she's pregnant, congratulations."







"Thanks. We've been together for awhile. We found out she was expecting right before the raids, we were planning to leave anyway. The pneumonia, on top of her being pregnant, and with losing her mom... she's just not doing the best right now."
