The Infirmary

"Okay. I'll see you tomorrow then," I said and watched as he left. I cradled Daphne to me and went outside. "I guess we're ready to go."

I nodded "Alright, then." I said,getting a little nervous.

"You look about like I feel," I said and tried to smile at her.

I smiled back at him "Yeah, I'm a little nervous I guess. Are you ready to go?"

"I am too. I'm as ready as I'll ever be I'll guess. Let's get her home," I said and we headed to Carter's.

I was setting in my rocking chair reading when I heard the front door open, I was staying put tonight too. I was afraid to leave while Carter was still so upset. I walked out to see Grace and Tyler "Here we go. Follow me."

"Her water broke at the house," I said to Pepper as I helped Grace in the room and helped her lay down.

"It's about time, let me check her out." I told Tyler as I put on a pair of gloves and propped her feet up, legs apart "You're moving along really well, Grace. The baby is in a good position so now we just wait." I smiled, relieved that this birth was going to go fairly smooth.

I breathed a sigh of relief and sat down beside her, taking her hand in mine. "I can't believe we're gonna be parents soon," I said and kissed her hand.

"I know...are you nervous?" I asked.

"Actually... no. No I'm not. I'm excited."

"So am I...and relieved. I'd really love to see my toes again, I've missed them." I smiled a little and another contraction coursed through my body and caused me to cry out.

I hated to see her in pain. "Is there anything I can do? You want me to rub your back or something?"

"It's alright." I told him and Pepper came back over to check me.


"Once your water broke this little booger wasn't waiting around any longer. You can start pushing if you want."

"You can do this baby," I said and kissed her forehead.

I started to push when Pepper told me to, it hurt like hell but I was doing my best to follow her instructions.

"You're doing so great baby, just breathe."

As I pushed harder I felt myself starting to tear when Pepper grabbed her surgical scissors and cut me open more. She said the baby had finally crowned and I pushed more when I finally felt him leave my body. I fell back into the bed breathing heavily.


"A healthy baby boy." I smiled and suctioned his nose and mouth out "Tyler, would you like to cut the cord?" I asked him.

"Oh wow, he's perfect. Yeah, yeah, I'd love to," I said and went over, cutting the cord when she showed me what to do.

I helped Tyler put the baby in Grace's arms for a moment before Rosalie took him to clean him up more.


"Oh my God, he's perfect. Now I see why he was being so stubborn." I smiled and kissed his forehead.

"He's amazing baby," I said and kissed her. "Thank you."

"Thank you too." I smiled.

"Thank you for what? I just did the fun part, you did all the hard work baby," I said and kissed her softly.

"But I couldn't have done it without you." I smiled "What are we naming him?"

"I don't know. Wow... we didn't really discuss that did we," I said and laughed a little. "What do you think?"
