Jack & Erica

I read over the letter "Dammit." I muttered "I'll check on her tomorrow. I'm sure she's resting by now."

"Yeah I was going to check on her too. He's... he's gone back... I know he has. He promised Raine he wouldn't let them get away with that, before we left that's what he said to her... I... Erica I'm so worried. What if... what if he doesn't come back."

"He will, Selma. Don't think like that...we'll talk to Jack and the others tomorrow. See what they say."

I nodded and hugged her. "I think I'll go to bed. It's been a rather long exhausting day. Wanna lay with me? You don't have to, just... don't really feel like being alone."

"I don't mind at all, let's go to bed." I said as we both blew out the lanterns and went to bed.

I went to Jack's and knocked on his door, he opened up "Hey, you should come check the sky out. Looks rough."

I stepped outside and looked up, cursing to myself. "Has everyone started gathering supplies? If it's as bad as it looks, we won't be leaving our cabins for a few days at least."

"Dean got back today, he's grabbing up some stuff and I'm going to go around to the homes and let everyone know."

I nodded. "Good deal. See if you can round up a couple hands, we'll gather food from the storage and take it to everyone."

"Alright, I'm on it." I told him and went back out, letting everyone know. Soon, just about everyone was helping and even Lea was really doing her part.

We got everyone ready for the storm then went our separate ways. I went to Erica's to double check on her and make sure she had everything she and the kids needed.

I got to Erica's and knocked.

Selma has just left, I opened the door "Hey, get in here." I told Jack, shutting the door back quickly.

"What do you mean Selma left? Where did she go? I wanted to check on you guys, make sure you have everything you need, but it looks like I'm stuck here. If that's okay with you?"

"Of course it's okay, she went over to Brett's for some extra blankets. Looks like they'll be needing them now." I smiled "She loves being prepared for anything."

I smiled. "That's good. At least she'll be safe. I worry about everyone in this storm."

"Don't worry too much, most of us have dealt with it before. I must say I haven't seen one technically this heavy. We must be farther north now."

"We're kind of in the middle. We only get a storm this bad every few years."

"That's a good thing."

"Yeah it is. We're lucky we've done so well out here, we have stockpiles for when things like this happen."

I smiled "I'm so happy, you don't even realize."

I smiled and put my hand against her cheek, slowly rubbing my thumb back and forth. "So am I. Just being here with you... makes me happier than I've ever been," I said and kissed her softly.

I returned his kiss until Zoey started whimpering "That's my que." I smiled and went over, picking her up "She loves Brett, he's very good with her."

"Yeah he is. He loves kids. I know he's always wanted them. Not really an option out here though. Until now anyways," I said and smiled as I watched her with Zoey.

"Maybe if things work out with him and Selma he'll get his wish. I can tell he cares for Quin and Raine too, they're just....cautious of him I suppose."
