"That's understandable. They've been through a lot. It's hard to trust people after that."

"It is, I'm not sure what Aurora thinks about us yet. She hasn't been very chatty lately...."

"I noticed that. Is she alright?"

"She's just sad but she makes it so difficult to help her...I know she get's that from me."

"She just misses her fiance. That's gotta be hard. Everything she's been through, you all have been through, it's a miracle you're all doing okay."

"I know...she's been through a lot. All of my kids have." I sighed "Chase has been so heart sick about Bella he's barely eating. He came through shirtless the other day and I noticed."

I shook my head. "That's not good. It's not good for him to go without eating. Do you want me to talk to him?"

"Let me see if he'll talk to me first, Chase can be...very difficult when he's upset."

"All teenage boys can, especially with all they've gone through." I pulled her closer to me and kissed her softly. "It'll be alright baby."

"I hope so, it's just going to take some of them so long to learn to live and move on from everything that's happened to them."

"Yeah I know. I wish there was more I could do to help, but I just don't know how to help some of them."

"You've helped so much already, we're all very thankful."

"It was the least I could do. Just... never seems like enough somehow."

"It is Jack, it really is." I smiled.

I smiled. "I'm glad you think so," I said and kissed her softly.

I went to check on the girls then took them to Jack and Erica's. I knocked on the door before opening it a little. "Erica, are you home?"

"Please, come in!" I called from the back and then met her at the door "How is Quin?"

"I... I don't know. Pepper said he's going to be okay but... he woke up and... he couldn't remember what happened. He didn't know why he was there," I said quietly. "I want to stay with him tonight. I was wondering if Raine and Zoey could stay here with you? I don't want them alone."

"Of course they can. Please make sure Aurore doesn't go anywhere alone right now...I don't trust them."

I nodded. "Of course I'll make sure. I don't think she's going anywhere though, she wants to be with Quin."

"I really wish they could catch a break, I feel so sorry for them."

"Me too," I said softly and slowly sat down. "I... I don't... I don't know what to do. I... I feel so helpless," I whispered.

"I'm so sorry, Selma. I don't understand how these things keep happening."

"I don't either. Things were... things were supposed to be better here. Instead they... they just seem to be getting worse," I said and wiped away a tear.

"I'm starting....to think it just....isn't in the cards." I shrugged, wishing I could sound more positive but she would be able to see through it anyway.
