I stopped and looked at him. "I'm so sorry... I had no idea... When did that happen?"

Carter

"I thought I had told you, I'm sorry. But it happened after the public beatings."
-Caleb

I shook my head. "Damn I'm so sorry. I can't even imagine. How are you doing?"

I shrugged a little "I'm alright. I really haven't thought about it I guess. I know that sounds awful but I've been too occupied with worrying about Ezra."

"I know what you mean. It doesn't sounf awful though. Just sounds like someone who's coping."

Carter

"Thanks, I'm just doing my best."

"Have you taken any time for yourself? I think that would help."

"It may, but I'm alright. Really. Don't worry about me, I'm holding up just fine."

"Like that's ever going to happen. I'm always going to worry about you. You're like a brother to me Caleb. You can't tell me you're fine, I can tell you're not. I really think some time to yourself might help. You should give it a shot sometime. It helped me."

"I'll try to make it happen, I promise."

"Okay good. And anything you need, you know all you have to do is ask." 

"Thanks, I know I can always come to you." We got back to everyone else and they were making their way to the mess hall "Looks like the reception is starting."

"You go ahead. I think I'm just gonna head home. Tell Ezra hi for me." 

"Alright, I will. She may wanna go home too, I'm not sure yet. Have a good night, let me know if you need anything." I patted his back and walked towards Ezra.

I looked up when Caleb came over. "Hey."

"Hey, are you up for the reception?"

I shook my head a little. "Not really. I'm kind of tired. You can go if you want to though." 

"That's alright, I'll take you home if that's where you wanna go."

"Okay. Only if you're sure though. I don't want to keep you from having fun."

"You aren't. But I do think we need to talk about today."

"There's nothing to talk about," I said and started to walk towards home. 

I was walking around through the forest, Fury right on my heels. I was trying to calm down, I just wanted to accept it. I didn't want trouble with her and Parker, I wanted Selma to be happy. That's all I had ever wanted for her. Quin didn't really warm up to me but I still cared about him. Loved Raine and Zoey too. I stopped and leaned against a tree. I heard rustling in the trees but Fury didn't growl so it had to be a familiar face. Lea finally appeared and came over to me, she didn't say anything and she didn't need to. I knew she just wanted to be there for me. Strangely though there was more rustling and this time Fury growled. "Get behind me." I grabbed LEa and put her between the tree and myself to better protect her.

"What do we have here? Straying a little far from home aren't you?" I said with a smirk as the five of us came out from behind the trees.

Oh, fucking terrific. "We'll head back. It was an honest mistake, I just came too far on my walk."

"You think you can get away with it that easily? You all know the rules," I said, pulling out my knife as the others did the same.
