Quin & Aurora

"Just like that, huh?" I asked. Not even sure what to say.


"I'm not giving in that easy. Tell them that Chase died and I'm at the fish camp. If they take us all, what then? We won't have anyone to help us. Fuck that."

"They have us surrounded Gabe. You think they wouldn't see you? No. We almost lost Chase. I'm not taking a chance on losing you too. And they have medics that can help him." 



"And you think we're going to take a chance on losing you too? No. Fuck that."



"I knew what I was doing every moment I broke the law back there Mom. I knew what was going to happen to me if they ever found us. I wasn't sorry for what I did then and I'm still not. I'd do it all over again if I had the chance." 

"I'm taking the chance, Quin. I'm tired of setting on the sidelines when shit goes down, I'm not doing it anymore."


"Gabe, please."

He went to get up and I went to stand in front of him. "You're not doing it. Get mad at me, hit me, punch me, I don't fucking care. You are my brother and I'm not losing you," I said, trying not to break down. "They'll be here soon," I said and went to Aurora, pulling her into my arms. 

"What if Gabe has a point, Quin? Maybe we should let him make his own choices." I whispered.

"There is no other choice. We've lost too much. If he tries to leave we'll lose him too. You know it's true. We can't fight them Aurora." 

"How am I going to live without you?" I asked as I started to break down, tears spilling down my face.

I held her tight to me, running my fingers through her hair. "You're strong. You're the strongest woman I know. You can make it through anything baby. And I'll always be with you," I whispered, not even trying to stop the tears that slid down my face. She was my whole world, everything that held me together. 

"I don't feel like a very strong person right now."

"I know you don't. But you are. You've been through so much, and you've always come out on top. You will this time too." 

"I'm nothing without you though."

"Yes you are. You're the most amazing woman in the world. This... this is not gonna beat you baby. You're gonna live a long life. You're gonna help mom take care of Raine and Zoey, and you're gonna help take care of your brothers. And you're gonna be happy. Promise me you're gonna be happy okay?"

"I promise that I'll try." I muttered before crying harder, clinging to his shirt.

"Good. That's... that's good," I whispered, fresh tears spilling down my face. "I love you so much Angel. Never forget that okay?" 

"Never. I could never forget you, baby."

"And I'll never forget you," I managed to get out before my voice choked up to much and I just held her to me, waiting to hear them coming into the camp. I wouldn't let her go until I absolutely had to.

"I...I hear them. There's a lot, isn't there?"

I nodded. "I assume so. He didn't tell us how many, but enough to surround the whole camp." 

I started to hear some kind of ruckus going on "What is it?" I asked going over to a window and looking out. "Um, Quin?"

"What's going on?" I asked, going over to the window with her.

"I don't know who exactly but I think a few people just ran into the woods." I said and then Gabe took off out the front door "Gabe, wait!"

"Gabe!" I yelled and ran after him only to get stopped by a soldier. 

"We're coming out, please don't shoot." I told the soldier.

"Quintin Bast?" I asked and he nodded. "I've been instructed to handcuff you. If you come quietly, no one has to get hurt."

Soldier

"I'm not gonna put up a fuss. Just don't storm in there okay? There's kids inside," I said and turned around, putting my hands behind my back. 



I went out and hugged him hard as the soldier was putting the cuffs on him. "I love you. Everything's gonna be okay," I said and kissed his cheek. 



"I know. I'm gonna be fine. Don't worry about me." 

A piece of my soul was ripped out as the soldier led him away and I felt like I was going to be sick.
