Forest

I was so exhausted I didn't even try to speak. I took a few deep breaths and pushed when she told me to, then pushed again, screaming as loud as I could, until it was over and I heard the baby crying.



There was so much blood I was frozen for a minute. "You... you want me to take her? I can clean her off."






I nodded. "Then we'll stay right here," I said and kissed the top of her head, just holding her to me, never wanting to let her go.

"You helped your mother with Zoey so here you go." I smiled and handed the baby to Raine after I sucked out her nose and mouth. "Alright, Bella. Let's get you cleaned up. You tore a little but I'm going to take care of that."

"Can I ask you something?"

I nodded and took out some of the water bottles she'd brought, wetting down the cloths and gently cleaning her off. I couldn't believe how tiny she was.



"Tore...? What's... what's that mean? Am... am I okay?" I whispered, my eyes half open. All I wanted to do was go to sleep.



"Of course you can. Ask me anything angel."

"It means the baby needed some extra room, is all. Nothing to worry about, it's normal for small girls like you."

"It's been a week and Diego still had to be carried out to a cart. How bad did you hurt him?"

"Oh... okay," I whispered. I felt her give me a shot and got even more sleepier. It was all I could do to keep my eyes open. "Is... is the baby... okay?"



I sighed. "Honestly I don't know. I just... went crazy. I know I broke a lot of his ribs. And really messed his face up. I haven't asked anyone though, so I don't know."

"She'll be fine too, she's early but as long as she eats and we keep a good eye on her she should pull through." I said and started to stitch her up as Chase held her close.

"I haven't asked either...until now that is."

"Okay," I whispered and couldn't stop my eyes from closing as Chase ran his fingers through my hair. "Can... can I go to sleep now?"



"I can't really help you find out. Unless you want to ask Pepper. I'm not allowed anywhere near that camp. Not like I want to go there."

"Yeah, Bella. You can go to sleep, I've got you."


"Congratulations on your first restraining order."

"Love you," I whispered and fell straight to sleep.



I finished cleaning the baby up and wrapped her up in a blanket before carrying her back over to Pepper. "Is she gonna be okay?" I asked, worried about my friend.






"To be honest I'm surprised it's taken me this long."

"She just needs rest and some minor medical treatment. I need to get her back to the infirmary and we need to decide what's going to happen to the little one."


"I'll follow you, Pepper." I said as I wrapped Bella in a blanket and picked her up gently.


I couldn't help but laugh because it was too true "I think we're all surprised."

"She told me she'd been talking to Faye. Faye said she found a couple from the other camp to adopt the baby. I'm not sure who it is though."



I shrugged. "Had to happen sometime," I said and held her closer to me. "Want to go check on Bella? It's been quiet for a little bit."

"I'll go talk to Faye and get that worked out."


"Let's go." I said and we took each other;s hands and walked back to the river. We came through the bushes and trees, Chase was holding Bella and Raine had the baby "Is everything alright?" I asked.

I nodded, noticing Quin looking anywhere but at the baby I was holding. "She just needs to go to the infirmary, but she's gonna be fine," I said and smiled at them. They still looked so perfect together. I really hoped they were patching things up.

I noticed Q and Brown Eyes holding hands. Thank God, now maybe he'd be in a slightly better mood. "We've got this, you and Brown Eyes go home. I'll send your stuff by Mason or Ethan." I winked.

I smiled a little. "Thanks Asher. I appreciate it," I said and squeezed Aurora's hand. I put my arm around her and led her out of the woods so we could go home.

I was picking flowers by the stream when I heard the trees rustling. "Hello? Is someone there?"

I came through the trees and stumbled upon a girl picking flowers, she jumped when she saw me "It's alright, I'm not gonna hurt you."

I froze for a minute. Holy mother of god he was sexy. "Hi. I'm Winter," I said, standing up.

"Hey...sorry if I scared you. I'm from the other camp and was just making my rounds out here." And I found you...lucky me. I thought to myself and smiled "I'm Lane. Nice to meet you."

"Very nice to meet you," I said and shook his hand. "I come out here a lot. It's really relaxing."

"I'll remember that. It's not everyday I find a treasure."

"A treasure huh? And what treasure did you find?" I asked, smiling at him.

"A Winter treasure, apparently. And at the beginning of the summer season, imagine that."

I blushed a little. "Well... what do you think of this Winter treasure?"

"I think she's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen."
