"You'll never get a second chance to watch your daughter grow up either, Carter. Come on, walk out there and just hold her for a minutes."

I nodded but didn't get up yet. "What if I let her down too?" I whispered.

"You won't, you're nothing like him. I'm nothing like my Dad either."

I nodded again. "So you... you really think I can do this?" I asked quietly.

I nodded "I know you can."

"At least one of us has faith in me," I said and slowly got up.

I still had my arm around him as we slowly stepped out of his room. Brooke looked up and she'd been holding the baby "Have a seat and Brooke can put her in your arms."

I took a deep breath and nodded then slowly sat down. She got up and carefully placed her in my arms, showing me how to hold her. I looked down at her and felt like I couldn't breathe. Tears filled my eyes and I blinked them back quickly, not taking my eyes off her.

"She's perfect." I told him as he looked down at her, I went back over to Cameron "I hate to run but I gotta go. I'll see you guys later."

"See you later Brooke. Thanks for coming."

"No problem." I nodded to Caleb and left.

"You okay Carter?" He just nodded, not looking up from Daphne. I smiled then nodded at Caleb to follow me into the kitchen. "Thanks for coming too. I didn't know what else to do. Whatever you said to him seems to have worked though."

"I'm glad you came and got me, he just needs to keep being reassured. He's afraid of messing up with her. He has a fear that he'll be like Kent...and that's not possible. You and Carter are way too good for that asshole." I said "How have you been feeling?"

"I've been good... better. Better than I have in a long time."

"I'm really glad, you look a lot better too. How has Abi been holding up?"

"She's good. Been keeping busy with the baby. And keeping an eye on me. How's Ezra?"

"Mean as ever." I said, smiling. "She's doing good."

I smiled. "Good, I'm glad."

"Yeah, me too. I was worried about her for awhile." I said "Speaking of being worried. Does Brooke seem off to you?"

"Yeah she does. She's not as... spunky as she used to be."

"Right. I guess getting kidnapped will do that. She's keeping her distance from Carter too."

"She's been keeping her distance from everyone pretty much. And hardly talks. Hopefully that changes soon."

"I hope so too, it's just going to take everyone some time. When Carter is better do you plan on going back to the other camp?"

I shrugged. "I don't know. It depends on what Abi wants, but I think... I might stick around here. You know, to be around for Daphne and all."

"I hope you do, and I hope you two are working things out, seems like you are though."
