Travis & Ezra

"Okay, sounds good," I said and swallowed a little. My mouth was watering from the smell of the french toast, I was ready to devour it.

Ezra

It wasn't much longer and her breakfast was finished "Here you go, straight from Chef Travis's kitchen." I smiled trying to lighten the mood some more.

I smiled. "It smells really good," I said, taking the plate from him. I sat at the table and he got me a glass of milk. "Are you gonna eat with me?" 

"I'm going to set with you while you eat but I'm not up for food right now." I said and sat down beside of her. My stomach was in knots still, I hadn't been that pissed off in a long time.

"Oh okay," I said then notices the look on his face, though I could tell he was trying to mask his expression. "Are you alright?"

Ezra

"I'll be fine in a little while."

"Okay. You just... I don't know. You seem upset."

Ezra

"I'm not upset with you. Just upset that he came in here the way he did."

"I'm just glad that... you know... you got here. Things could've been a lot worse than him mouthing off to me."

Ezra

"You won't have to worry about that anymore either. Not after what he got for it."

I nodded. "Thank you. I... I really appreciate what you did." 

"You're welcome. It was my pleasure." I said "Amos and some of the other assholes around here are going to learn the hard way. They don't run the show anymore."

"I don't care how they learn, as long as they learn. I've had quite enough of being bullied by assholes." 

"They won't be a problem for you any longer. I promise."

"Thank you. That makes me feel better." What would make me feel even better was being with Caleb and my family again, but I didn't voice that.

"You're welcome." I said "So, look. We can't let you ladies venture out too far on your own yet but if you'd like to go see some friends or family I'll take you."

"I'd like to go see my mom." 

"I'll take you whenever you're ready. Does she know about the baby?"

I shook my head. "Not unless she's guessed. No one but you knows." 

"Alright. If she hasn't guessed by now she will soon. It's probably best to go ahead and tell her."

I nodded. "You're probably right." 

"While I'm working maybe I should hire someone to watch the place. For outside security that is. So, nothing like what happened today happens again."

I nodded. "I would appreciate that. I'm not exactly... popular with some of the people from the upper districts and the capitol."

"I could always get you something to protect yourself with. Would you like a new bow?"

"Am I really allowed to have weapons? I didn't think we'd be trusted with them, under the circumstances."
