Raine

"Quin's right, you will."

She closed her eyes again, refusing to say anything else, and I couldn't handle it anymore. "I'll come back by later okay?" I said and kissed her forehead.

She just laid there and Quin reluctantly left the room and I walked out behind him.


"How did it go?"

I shook my head. "Not good. How long has she been like this? Am I just... fucking blind as hell or what?" 

"Awhile...but I didn't know it was this bad and that's my fault. Raine and I haven't really been together the last couple of months. We were just...having differences I guess. She left the wedding early tonight and after Chase and I got back to our camp I decided to come back and check on her."

"And what did you find? What was she doing? Had she already... cut herself?" 

"I thought she was asleep when I got here so I was just going to check in on her. But I scared her and she kind of...shot at me when I opened the bedroom door." I let out a sigh "Izzy, Ryan, Cameron and Abi heard the shot so they came to see what was going on and that's when Izzy found the scars. We thought she was sleeping again when she busted some glass from a window a cut herself. I'm sorry...I'm really sorry. We didn't have time to go get help so Izzy and I had to do it ourselves."

"You left her alone after you found the scars? Why the hell would you do that?"



"Like he said, we thought she was sleeping. I went through the room and found all her knives and everything else that was sharp and took it out," I said, pointing to the pile on the kitchen counter. "We didn't think she was gonna break the damn window. If it wasn't for Gabe, she would've bled out."

"It's alright, Izzy. He always has to play the blame game when it comes to Raine."


"Please don't fight, you two."

"I'm not playing the blame game, I was asking a fucking question. I think it was a valid one too." 



"Quin, shut the fuck up. You really think either of us would've left her in there alone if we thought she had anything to hurt herself with? She broke the fucking window with a book. I... I freaked. I was shaking so bad I could barely do anything. If Gabe hadn't been there... I don't know if... if I could've saved her in time." 



I didn't say anything for a minute, then ran a hand through my hair a few times. "I'm... sorry. Thank you... for what you did," I said quietly. 

"You're welcome. Look, I need to go check on Chase and make sure everything is running alright at the river. If something goes wrong with the fish wheel it's dangerous for him to mess with it on his own. If everything is good I'll be back soon."

"Be careful Gabe," I said before going back into the bedroom with Raine.

"Quin and I are heading home for now. If you or Chase need anything come and get me alright? Walk with us until we have to part ways, atleast." I told Gabe.


"Yeah...alright."

"See you guys later," I said then went to go clean up the kitchen. I finished and Ryan and I headed home.
